Amended Restart Date Since the announcement that restrictions will not be lifted until July we have a new restart date of 26th July 2021 A lovely reminder of what a beautiful town we live in, to cheer us up in these disappointing times! Somerset County Orchestra struggled on with rehearsals. Our conductor found a hall to house us in Trull when Queens College, our usual venue, were no longer able to house us with strict boarding school rules. We have moved our concert venue to St James’s Church adjacent to the medical centre next to The Brewhouse Theatre. We are performing at 3pm rather than usual evening concerts on Sat July 10th and have decided not to charge usual £10 for tickets but to ask for donations so will be making a loss this time but as we are not in our normal lovely concert hall and have had fewer rehearsals than per normal we felt that fair. If anyone is able to get to Taunton that day please contact SCO via website for tickets. We are playing Mozart 40 Schubert 4 (Tragic) and Haydn 92 Symphonies so keeping it classic this time – no tymps allowed. On a personal note, David and I drove up to Bham staying at The Plough and Harrow Hotel Hagley Rd., Edgbaston overnight for a CBSO concert at Symphony Hall. On arrival in Bham we were emailed to say they had cancelled as one member of the orchestra had tested positive for COVID. Poor show! One would have hoped they could have carried on with temps. Perhaps we will get to see Myrka (the talented conductor who replaced Sir Simon Rattle another time. I look forward to making music with our thriving local orchestra again July 26th at 7.15pm. We are nothing if not an enthusiastic and keen little band of musicians who love making music in the wonderful venue of The Exmoor Room with its great acoustic. Harmonious good wishes to all, Lynda Edwards(violinist). Sent from my iPad > LikeLike Reply Leave a Reply to Lynda Edwards Cancel reply Enter your comment here...
