Minehead Community Orchestra

The Minehead Community Orchestra (MCO) was founded by David Pitts on 25th January 2012, when it was known as the Alcomber’s Orchestra.

Over the past ten years we have lost members and indeed conductors but have gained replacements regularly.  The orchestra is now ably  conducted by Emily Feldberg our local composer renowned by her production of ‘Fragments’ in 2019.  We meet fortnightly in the Exmoor Room at the Old Hospital in the centre of Minehead.

Our repertoire to prepare for a Christmas concert is:

  • Beethoven’s 4th Symphony
  • Grand March from Aida
  • A Christmas Festival arr. Anderson
  • Boyce’s Gavotte
  • Christmas Carols
  • Dam Busters March
  • Berlin’s White Christmas

Every year we aim to have two concerts, one at Christmas and the other in Blenheim Gardens in the summer.

We are always looking for new members, percussion and strings particularly.  Please get in touch here.
