Spring Up Date

In January this year we held our first AGM. Bronwen reported the accounts to be healthy and two new members were voted onto the committee.

Sadly this year we will not be able to play in Blenheim Gardens but have already booked to play there on Sunday 6th July 2025!

The orchestra are making progress with some very adventurous repertoire, including Fledermaus Overture, Schubert’s 5th Symphony, Shostakovich Waltz No. 2, and Music of the Beatles. Our orchestra comprises of two 1st violins, one 2nd violin, 1 cello, 2 flutes, 1 recorder, 1 bassoon, 2 clarinets, 1 bass clarinet, 1 alto saxophone, 1 trumpet and percussion. As you can see we really need more strings. If you know any string players please encourage them to join us!

We are holding our Summer Concert in the Methodist Church Hall on Monday 8th July at 7.30pm when we plan refreshments will be served.

MCO may also be playing at Dunster Castle on 30th June but watch this space for details.

Congratulations to our guest conductor Jeannette Owen

Concert given on Thursday 8th September

We were very lucky to have Jeannette as our guest conductor back in July. The concert she presented this week in Taunton was a feast of local composers including our own conductor Emily. The orchestra and soloists played an excellent enjoyable program, many thanks to them all.
